Suga Brown

Suga Brown is an urban dance and drama company based in Huddersfield, working with groups aged from 7-19 in the mediums of dance, drama, music and rap poetry, effectively engaging young people in fun workshops, exciting performances and challenging master classes using modern music that they identify with. Our mission is to build the confidence of these young people, enabling them to feel good about themselves and develop a belief that they can achieve their very best.

In our workshops young people are able to tackle issues which affect them, such as drugs, street crime, sexual health and bullying. By having fun and meeting other young people they feel they can be honest and discuss openly how they feel about themselves, their environment and any other concerns that they may be facing.

Young people who join us have the opportunity to build and develop many life and social skills essential to their futures which will help them move on to take positive roles and actions in their lives and careers. Many of these young people have become Suga Brown choreographers and mentors and some have moved onto performing arts colleges to continue their interests in dance and drama.
